SNOW? We must celebrate!!!

Here in the Sandhills of North Carolina, we don't get to see very much snow or wintry weather, so when the weather man calls for snow, we must celebrate! I know how exciting it is to anticipate snow. I hope my kids enjoy their snowman cake pops along with their friends and hopefully we will have enough snow by tomorrow to maybe make a real snowman of some sort. I started making these little cake pops at 8:30 last night. My wonderful husband got home sometime after 10pm and helped me finish making all 44. I was inspired by bakerella. This is a blog that I enjoy getting ideas from. WARNING, before you click on the link below to see the real deal snowman pops, remember it was my first try at these. http://www.bakerella.com/snowman-cake-pops/ I am not very good at coming up with my own ideas but it is fun to try to copy ones that I find, especially extremely cute ones like this one.

Can you say Electric Bill or Mortgage?

Well I missed my first day of blogging already. We recieved a progress energy bill of $633.34 that we were not expecting. The month prior was $289.??. I expected a jump but not a hike up the mountain. First we are having our heat pump serviced and we will go from there. As far as paying the bill....not sure how that is going to work yet. My plan is to eliminate some electricity usage in our home very soon. I will be sharing with you in the coming weeks what I am doing and how or if it is helping.

p.26 from my grandmothers book

GOD IS THERE

I knelt down and deeply studied
The heart of a violet, blue and fair.
I crushed a raindrop, tween my fingers
And whisper'd, "God is there."

Another Good Monday

Mondays are a day off for me since I own a hair salon and work Tuesdays through Saturdays. After volunteering in Canaan and Hayden's classrooms this morning, mom and I went to Siler City. WALMART, imagine that........ not a whole lot to imagine uh? Sure wish we could get a Target closer by. Didn't buy much exciting but it was nice to be out and about with mom and Grace. Speaking of Grace, my niece, I can't believe she will be 1 this Saturday. Seems like she just got here.

TJ, my nephew, will turn 7 on Saturday.

I am working on some really neat Valentines Day cards for the boys to hand out this year. As soon as I get one done I will post a picture for you.

Okay, so my husband would like me to explain the picture of us. Back in November, I took 7 other people out to eat at a really wonderful bed and breakfast in our home town, The Old Buggy Inn, for a murder mystery dinner. I had to dress like a belly dancer and my fairly tall husband played the part of a jockey. We had a great time and the food was extremely good.

First Entry

Well, this is my very first post on my very first blog. I am not all that computer literate but I get around on the web somehow. To start with, I would like to share with you a little book published in 1941, written by my grandmother, Alma Campbell Boyte. Alma died in 1976 before I was here. I can tell from her poems that she loved the Lord and her family, especially her mother, Sarah Campbell.

The Way of Victory

Of many ways of the human mind,
As yet, I never have been able to see
How that a Conqueror can count his gain
Through blood stained spoils as Victory.

A thousand times more I'd rather be
The humblest of peasants in his lowly lot,
Than thus be linked with history;
A thousand times, yes, let me be forgot.

May God hasten on that blessed day
When all mankind shall be led to know
That peace holds the way of Victory,
Rather than war with all its woe.
